Speaking of things I did months ago, I began having a bit too much fun doodling little scenarios between Constance and the HBG, as you can see. These are some of them, and some I even colored, y'know..."just 'cause" (this'll be a recurring phrase).
The whole thing with them being a couple of loonies that hate each other (in kind of an old vs. new type fashion) started out as a joke, but I ended coming up with some sort of narrative around it. It's funny because the HBG was turned into an over-the-top, temperamental kook, very much unlike the whimsical, charming fellow I'm sure he's intended to be. Anyway, in my head, the HBG became spiteful and even a bit manic due to his "banishment." Being so fond of the Mansion as it was during his short lived stay, he detests any and every change made since. As you can imagine, the change he despises the most is Connie. Since she is so far from his old cohort and so modernized, he sees her as an invader to ~his~ attic. So he hides in the attic as an unofficial resident, ranting and raving whenever he gets the chance, hoping to drive her out. And Connie? When she's not either humiliating him or exploiting his hatred towards her for her amusement, she's very much annoyed by him. In fact, I began thinking that due to his animosity and persistence, everyone in the Mansion finds him to be a nuisance (I feel sorry for the guy).
Also, I think that, with the characterization I gave him, the HBG would speak rather eloquently, as if to add to his melodramatic-ness.
...So yeah, to reinstate my previous comment: I'm having waaaay too much fun with this.

When I think to it, it's interesting that in my headcanon's backstory (see my fan fiction), Constance and the like were once ghosts form the neighbor manor, Hightower Manor, also known as the Lonesome Manor. When Disney built his Disneyland in the spot, he kept the Gracey Mansion but destroyed Lonesome Manor, leading the ghosts from LM to move to the Haunted Mansion. For Hattie, Constance is then also an outsider, a stranger who has nothing to DO here in the first place.
